Title sequence VS Trailer

Title sequence:
This is the opening sequence to a film, its usually just a introduction into the film and doesn't last very long, usually lasting about 5 minutes, in this time the sequence will include all the titles and names for everyone involved in the film, including actors, producers, directors etc. as well as the main title of the film.

The title sequence is to introduce the film and give the audience a rough idea of what the films about and if anything has happened that the audience should know about.

Title sequences also use continuity editing as opposed to montage editing, this is to make the opening sequence clear to the audience.

Trailer:
A selection of shots from the film to make an a short sequence to give the audience an idea about what the films about.

The trailer is supposed to advertise the film without giving too much of the film away. They do this by selecting the best shots from the film and edit it all into one short clip.

Trailers also use more montage editing than title sequences. This is because they want to have the best shots from the film in the trailer to try and persuade the audience to go and see the film.

brief of task

we have been set the task to create a 2 minute opening sequence to our own film. however, before filming the sequence we must research and plan what the sequence will be about. The opening sequence must have titles and what everyone in the group is doing within the film. It must also have a wide variety of camera shots, angles and movements as well as sound and effective lighting. once we have completed filming the sequence, we must edit and evaluate it.
In this task I would like to work with Grace and Jamie as I think that I work with them best.
